Reading Zi Wei’s Twelve Palaces: Connections Before Single Stars

A Zi Wei chart works like a relational map. Palaces locate the life domain, stars describe activity there, and palace connections complete the sentence.

01

Locate the Life and Body palaces

The Life palace commonly starts the whole-chart reading, while the Body palace points to themes felt strongly through action. Record their positions, main stars, and opposing palaces before attaching personality labels.

02

Twelve palaces are life domains

Career, Wealth, Travel, and Partnership are traditional domain names, not single-event boxes. Wealth can include resource management and exchange; Travel can include how a person responds outside familiar settings. Translate the label into a lived question.

03

Read stars in combinations

One main star does not determine a domain. Supporting and challenging stars, transformations, and the linked palace triad change its expression. Instead of listing fixed traits for every star, identify one well-supported drive and one counter-pressure.

  • Life and Body palace thread
  • Main and supporting stars in the palace
  • Linked triad and opposition
  • Where the four transformations land
04

Review with a palace question

End each palace with a question that experience can answer. For Career, ask which work structure sustains your attention rather than whether success is promised. Return later and compare the observation with actual choices.
